Religious Education
Intent:
All children learn about and from religion to understand and respect the diverse world around them.
At Cherry Tree, we follow our locally agreed syllabus using Jigsaw RE. We aim to support our Cherry Tree children to become tolerant, reflective young people with the knowledge and awareness of religions and world views. We follow the Jigsaw RE scheme of work, which is an enquiry-based scheme of work and covers the principal world faiths in a progressive way from Early Years to Year 6. In the Early Years, the learning is closely matched to Development Matters to contribute meaningfully to your child’s holistic development. Throughout all the enquiries, the children’s spiritual, moral, social and cultural education is carefully considered. We work closely with the Watford Schools Trust, which is a local Christian charity and other religious leaders in the local community.

Parents have the right to withdraw their child from all or part of Religious Education (RE) if they wish. If you choose to do this, the school will always make sure your child is supervised during RE lessons.
We are always happy to chat through what RE looks like in our school if that would be helpful before you make a decision.
