Houses of Parliament Trip - Children’s Parliament Members and School Leaders
This event will take place on 24/05/2024
This is an exciting opportunity for our Children’s Parliament members and School Leaders to visit the Houses of Parliament. This trip is a fantastic chance for the students to experience first hand how our country's government functions and to engage with the democratic process of decision-making.
While at the Houses of Parliament, the students will have the opportunity to observe debates, tour the historic buildings, and learn about the role and responsibilities of Members of Parliament. It promises to be an enriching and memorable day for all involved, and we believe it will greatly benefit our School Council members in their roles as responsible and active members of our school community.
The date for this trip is Friday 24th May 2024 and the children will be travelling via train. Due to the early start of our session, please can I ask you to drop your child at Watford Junction at 7:45am on the morning of the trip. We will then catch the 08:07 train to Euston. From London Euston, we will travel on the Victoria Line underground to Green Park and change on to the Jubilee line to Westminster, then take an 8-minute walk to The Houses of Parliament Education Centre. On our return we will walk back to school and expect to be back at school before the end of the school day. If you would prefer to collect your child directly from Watford Junction Station at 2pm, please inform the office via email by Monday 20th May.
On the day, children should be smartly dressed in their school uniform with suitable black shoes and a waterproof coat. We are also asking for children to bring a packed lunch and water bottle. If your child has a current Free School Meal entitlement, they will be provided with a free packed lunch from our school kitchen but please let us know if you would prefer to provide your own packed lunch.
